Corvette America sells dyes for nearly every Corvette ever made. You can find them in lots of Corvette resellers online, my favorite is Full Throttle Corvette. So far for me, they are perfect match.
I bought the Rit dye at Wal mart it was for nylon based fabric. I cleaned the carpet first. Then with gloves on I took a kitchen sponge and soaked it the blotched and rubbed it in the carpet working it in. Then put the carpet in the hot sun for a few hours to dry. Then installed it. 6 years latter it is still holding up. This was on black carpet so color matching really was no problem.

Ok tx but I see that you removed the carpets and then dyed them and I was going to dying them in my 78?..........
Can it be done that way and let it sit in the sun with the T-Tops removed??
And it appears that you used it straight from the bottle???

Ok that's what I was thinking and tx for the info....................
Of course finding a near color match for my OE red carpets might be tough but I'll venture a look back at the RIT website
I’ve had good luck with Rit dye as well. My son and I dyed the charcoal gray carpet in his Mustang with the carpet still in the car. We used the liquid dye mixed with some really hot tap water and some vinegar. We spayed from a spray bottle to coat the carpet, and a brush or sponge works well to make sure it really gets into all the fibers.
I’ve got to try and restore some color in my Brothers car. I’ve used RIT DYE in the past and makes a mess, how would you do a large section of the carpet without making a huge mess, what type of tub would you use? This will be RED so I’d like to contain as much of the color as possible.
