I want to install a mirror on my passenger door on my '75 Vert and was trying to figure out the best way to permanently attach it to the door (besides utilizing the "well nuts" that come with it) I have tried in the past, but they keep getting loose over time...meanwhile the drier door mirror is rock solid. Any suggestiions????
I don't know when GM added the passenger side mirror to the car. I don't have an AIM for a 75, but on my 69 and on a 73 AIM on the driver's door there is a piece that they call an "existing tapping plate" that must have been glued or epoxied to the inside of the door that the mirror assembly screws into. I don't know if such a piece is available, but even if it was you would have to get to the inside of the door to glue it into place. It doesn't look very complicated but is probably curved to fit the inside shape of the door.
I used these adhesive ready nuts to bolt the vintage Air firewall cover plate to the firewall on my 73.
You could epoxy these to the inside of the door in alignment with the mirror holes and they should work.
