Default LS2 engine in a '69

Has anyone installed a LS2 ( or equiv.) engine into a early C3? Looking for any information on this subject.

There is about 5 complete running LS1 C-3 on the forum and 6 in the works. Check out S & P's website, they have a video of the differences between the LS2 and LS1.
Check out Scooter70 and 70LS1 sites on the forum.

My site is in my sig. The differences between the LS1 and LS2 (or even LS6) are very small.

So tell me something, I got a ride in my buddys 2004 Z06 this past weekend and man that car really impressed me!! He just has a few bolt ons but that thing had some serious power, for it to have such a smooth idle and mild manners, not to mention 22-24 MPG.

I know the newer vettes are a lot of the whole package deal working together, but those of you that have done the conversion, Do you think you are at the same power level, feel it in the seat of your pants wise, as the newer vettes?

I have a mild cam in mine (but bigger than the Z06 cam) and I think I'm putting down about the same amount of power as a stock ZO6. The thing about the newer cars that I think makes them feel faster is the smoothness of the ride and the mild(er) exhaust note. My car rides kinda rough and I have a chambered exhaust with no cats, so it's almost obnoxiously loud. It's a very different experience.

I don't know -If you want the advantages of a new vett buy one. the vintage experiance is kinda cool . c3's are like pre techno -I love the smeel and noise and that I can work on it without a laptop.

Jim, I really considering it. Don't get me wrong I'm keeping the C3, but that Z06 was an entirly different experience as Scooter said. While my vette is fast in a 1/4 mile (we are actually only a couple of hundreths between us) the Z06 just feels faster. It is faster after the 1/4. 150 in mine feels like it is about to come apart at any second and it better be going in a straight line too. 150 in the new one feels like it is just getting started. I'm serious 150 feels like a Sunday drive in that thing.

As far as working on one, the only difference is one is tuned with a laptop, the other with screwdrivers and wrenches. We all had to learn how to work on the old ones. I could learn how to work on the new ones.

I love my old vette, but man the technology in the new ones is amazing

I am waiting for the new LS7 to be sold over the counter. 500 HP, 427 cubic inches. By then, I may gotten my paint job paid off and be ready to spend more $$$.

Of course, there is always this crate motor (without the auto, I'd use my Tremec):

I drove a C-5 last year and must say that I like my old '79 better. Not saying one is better, just my opinion and taste. Guess I like squeaks and rattles. Beyond the obvious advantages of EFI, I'm doing this because it's different and there aren't many who have done it. Can't deny the cool factor.

I would descibe the LS1 power as raw. Take a ride in a late model ss and it is very similar to that.

One warning about the LS2 is that there is no tuning available for it. The LS1s have LS1 Edit, but nothing is out for the LS2s. Also, since there is no F-body crowd (market) for LS2 Edit, I would expect it will take a while to come out and be signifigantly more expensive.

HP Tuners is working on it so I'd expect their LS2 version sometime this year. Plus the LS2 (hardware & sensors) isn't that much different from the LS1, so there are people out there who already have them running on LS1 PCMs. There are the GTOs and SSRs that also have LS2s so the lack of an F-body means nothing.

Yup, I have my Steve Erkel costume all ready and pressed for when mine hits the street. Even bought some white socks and black shoes.

Anyone, which is the better program for our application? I know of 2.
