Why not just screw a 90 degree elbow fitting into the transmission fitting?

There's no way to get the fitting into the port... There would be enough space with the fitting in place.. but I just can't get the fitting in... The fitting is about 1 inch long, but I only got less than 3/4 inch of space..

Gs, on my '72 700 here, I have holes in the pass side just for those cooling lines, and sheet aluminum....not to mention widening the tunnel to clear....so yes, i'ts a cut and make do situation....apparently the exact sizes of these bodies on these old sharks varied all over the place, tons of posts about alignemnt of body on frame, relative placement of glass in the floors, clearancing trannies, driveshafts....methinks the production tollerances in the floorboards were plus/minus an inch or so...

Looks like a cut would be my best bet then. It also gives me easier access to all the other stuff there..
