i love the internet and i'm one step closer to owning it....
i found "Auto Lift parts warehouse, Hamden CT " on the internet. i spoke with a very friendly and knowledgeable sales guy and they are familar with the lift and decoded the s/n for me its a 6000# rated lift and ALL the parts for it are still commercially available..... they are going to send me the parts list and instruction manual for it....and i am going to buy the shim kit from them.....this alleviates alot of my concerns...

ok had a couple more night to ponder this....i have decided to let the opportunity go by on this jack for the following reasons.....this C3 project is almost finished, and the only underneath work left to do is to install the new exhaust..... i do not anticipate any new projects in the next 1-2 years...... i have successfuly restored many cars without using a two post lift at all..........what i like most about my shop now is the open layout that allows me to position a car anyway i like....that would be compromised with a fixed lift.... i know in my future i will be doing a metal bodied hot rod....and for that project i will need floor space over a lift... so instead for this wimter we will insulate the cement block garage and make it a little more comfortable to work in....thks everybody for your thoughts/suggestions,bob

Hi Bob
If you do not mind, I live in Northern NJ and would be interested in the lift? Can you pass along the info?
