Not bagging on you, but there are way too many egos here anyway. Sounded like he was just talking about the experience. You have a nice Pro Street type Vette. Be happy with it and know that you have plenty of fans. No need to go out of your way to pee on this guys campfire.

I was a little disappointed the car didn't bring more. I bet 99% of those people didn't have a clue what went into that car. I also loved the stupid comment by Brock Yates (although I like him) "The aerodynamics on it would stop it at around 160 mph"...Uh, 1200 hp? No...

Scott,
How far do you live from Stevens Pass? I used to ski there when I was a young critter.

Good point, it was SPECIFICALLY stated that each and every car is picked for specific reasons. Apparently, there are some car guys out there that had an appreciation for this unique piece of machinery.

I believe that the Vette would have brought home more Money if it would have been auctioned earlier in the evening or on Saturday afternoon or evening. Just what I have noticed from passed auctions. I really enjoy seeing Steve's Dream Vette come to Life!

Im dissapointed. I was hoping it sold for more money. It would have helped driven the market up for my semi-custom 80. I am sure the announcers rude remarks about a pretty sweet ride didnt help.

Anyway, I think if B-J woulda had a few east coast, west coast rappers in da house it would have sold for much, much more! Plenty of bling, bling on dat machine!

In my opinion, the market has spoken. This car, Merlin, is worth $68k. It went to auction at one of the most hyped auction venues for cars in the world, and that is what it brought. Nothing more to say here.

How many people here would pay 70,000?
If I had enough $$$ laying around I would've paid $100k for it and felt like I got a good deal. Call that whatever you want, but it is a wonderful car. Heck if anything I'd like to own it just so I could go about shutting up the nay-sayers around here.

I honestly don't understand why Steve comes by here every so often... He could post anything... hey its nice outside today, hey I'm thinking about buying another Corvette, hey I just wanted to check in and say hello to some old friends, and a few certain people just go off on him.

I'd like to see someone else put that kind of money into their vette and prove they have something better than Project Insane Asylum. Frankly, I don't see that being very possible.

Now I know my opinion of someone means diddley squat around here. There are very few forum frequenters that I don't like. But that short list gets longer and longer every time Steve shows up.

I think someone needs to prove their vette is better than Project Insane Asylum. Until then they need to STFU!!!

MotownPaceCar, do not take offense to this reply. It was not directed toward you.

$68k IS A STEAL.

Come on-the guy put a quarter million in a C3- that's more ballsy than most of you guys could ever lay clame to in your entire life. If anything, it should be inspiration. I know that it makes me want to do something similar to my '79. I guess it's alot easier to be a sheep.

Since it's advertised for BB engines with Whipples to put out 1,600hp, it's not hard to comprehend Merlin's 522 S/C putting out 1,000-1,200hp...I can't remember if it was intercooled or not. Heck, twin-turbo small blocks now put out 1,000hp and a single BB with a common roots S/C usually puts out 1,400hp when set up for drag racing. Of course, it would be harder to do on 85 octane regular...

You miss read my post.

"The aerodynamics on it would stop it at around 160 mph"...Uh, 1200 hp? No..."

Brock Yates said aerodynamics would stop it around 160 mph, my response says with 1200 hp no it would not. In other words, it would go MUCH faster than 160 mph.
