Default Project update...

Did a few things on the Vette after work today.. well - actually yesterday

Installed the electrical fuel pump and water pump (still need to wire it), the drivers side interior, seat, racing harness and also a remote fuel pressure gauge. I also cut a hole into the tunnel at the drivers side to be able to gain better access to the transmission cooling ports...

Here are pics of the harness and the hole...

Default I like it!

I may have missed early posts, so can you tell me the concept behind this project? A full-on race car in the spirit of the C2 Grand Sports? Keep up the good work - and photos for the rest of us!

for gods sake man, spray some paint on that floor...it makes the car look like an old beater, I like modifications and it looks like you are doing a nice job but I can't stand undetailed and messy looking stuff...or is this a rush job to make the 1st race and then a thorough detailing is done afterwards?

You gonna be done in time for CI, Oliver. I'll never forget hearing you stand on it from every stop on the OMGWAGBK last year. And hearing you say " I have only 1/8th of a tank left" when we pulled into that school parking lot after the run!

It'll be a Pro-Street type of car.... It'll be driven on the street on a regular basis, but mostly around town.. The car will probably see more track time than street time...

I usually use a Dremel cutting bit (looke like a drill, but cuts). That cuts through fiberglass like butter...

Why would I paint the floor? It'll be covered by carpet when I'm done...

I might do that, or maybe I'll use some insulator on top of the main hoop.. Haven't decided yet.. It's not a show car...

I actually want to finish most of the work this weekend.. Might fire it up tonight or tomorrow if I can get the pin from the distributor gear removed.. It's stuck and I f'd it up, trying to tap it out :banghead... I might even need a new distributor and gear...

Did you ever figure out why your cooling lines are so close to the tunnel? If I remember correctly, my trans didn't sit that close. Did you cover up those connections when you were cutting? Looks like fiberglass may have gotten in there. Also, are those gussets on the downtube behind your left shoulder where the bar disconnects going to be strong enough?

if you have a good drill press and a tiny drill bit, you may be able to drill thru the pin and crush it into itself.

I covered the ports with electrical tape while cutting... However, the dust is everywhere and might have gotten in there after I pulled the tape off... Not a big deal.. that't nothing that the filter wouldn't catch..
The body/drivetrain alignment was not consistent on early C3's, especially '68's.... . The clearance varies from C3 to C3...

I tried that and broke off 3 drill bits.. Unfortunately, I don't have a drill press so I used a regular drill
