I have a '75 coupe which does not have the removable rear window. Has anyone installed one of these in a mid '70's C3 that didn't have it originally? How involved is it and what parts do I need? Does the glass hinge/fold down at the bottom and come out at the top or does the whole thing come out? Of course, pics would be great. Thanks.
Im converting my 77 for one now. Just trying to get parts. The glass has a chrome frame, with pins on the bottom. The pins slide into guides in the bottom. Then there are two latches on top to hold it in.
Im trying to do it cheap so I bought the frame and am going to try to put the glass from the 77 in it, then buy the latches, guides and weatherstripping. Hopefully I can do this for under $150
I put one in my 74. All you need is all the parts (including the interior trim that is cut out for the latches). It all bolts in as the required holes and brackets are all there. Just get a new weatherstrip and you'll be fine.
Do a search as there are several posts on this. One /post has a picture of the items needed - it shows parts for the 68/69 overhead trim which differs from the 70-72.
It will take a Saturday morning and afternoon to complete. I have do it to both of the 1973's I have owned. One of them is running around the Fayetteville area. Actually south in the St.Pauls area last I heard of it.
I can email you some pictures of installing the latches.
