Has Anyone Done A Procharger System On A C3 With A Bigblock? I Am Thinking About It But Would Like Some Info. And Maybe Some Pics.any Help? Thanks, robert
It wont fit.I will give you an inside scoop in the works.Im working on an F3R inverted system to fit in my c3. Mounts forward in front of the water pump, reverse rotation/backward mounted. The obstacle is the radiator needs to be moved forward and angled more. Not a problem in my modded car. This system with my engine should produce over 2000hp with a cowl hood.
I don't know what kind of supercharger the guy was using, but when I was stationed in Ft Walton Beach, Florida there was a kid with an '80-'82 with a centrifugal supercharger. From what I could tell he didn't use a kit, but made it fit himself. I remember the carb hat being like the ones Procharger uses. It was mounted on the passenger side under the stock hood if I remember correctly. I tried to talk to the guy several times, but he was the ultimate jerk. Maybe Nastee383 knows the car.
Why couldnt he get just the head unit and make his own brackets to fit where the a/c would be then plumb everything himself.Swap to electric fan s etup then hell have room ,right?
I noticed on the Procharger website that the FR3 is not available reverse rotation. Special order? A blower this size will need a wide belt or maybe a cogged belt, both take up a lot of room. I assume you would use a liquid-to-air intercooler, maybe located behind left front wheel all plumbed together with 6" dia inlet tubing. It's going to be a real tight fit, I'd like to see what you come up with.

Its in the works ,not available for sale yet.It will have the lg belt. The intercooler will be in front of the radiator that will be moved forward and angled more.It will be air to air lg sheetmetal design 5 inch piping.
I am thinking... for the money of a procharger and custom fit... for BB... wouldn't it be easier to beef up the existing BB? Even for small block applications... would a stout motor be easier and less expensive? Oliver... (grandsport) chime in anytime... hee hee

i think you would be better off with a turbo setup.
blowers suck, you have to worry about belt slipping, and if you tighten the belt too much the crank and bearings take all the abuse. and the pro-charger takes alot more power to turn at 5k rpm than any turbo.
if i were you i would start looking for turbos.
but, to each his own.

Somewhere I saw a pro-charger in a C-3 also. If I recall, they had a TBI unit to get some extra hood clearence. They also had the unit reversed so the air cleaner will forward in vehicle as opposed to over the headers. It was a smallblock as opposed to a big block. I think they had a 427 (non-L88) hood. Wish I took a picture, it was a great looking set-up
I'd love to put a centrifugal blower on the 502 in the '79!
Still trying to figure it out- without effin' up the L-88 hood..............
You might be better off with a TPI- type setup (for hood clearance) if you want to go with the ProCharger.
Also- consider water-methanol injection instead of an intercooler. Takes up a LOT less room, and IMHO works better.
