To those who say all sidepipes rob power I encourage you to look at any vintage C3 race car. All the L88 that ran at LeMans had side exhaust.

Do the Stahls require notching of the fiberglass and/or rocker panel like the Hookers do??

Car dependant probably a little.Mine is very big so I cut mine off.Wow that hurt. As far as what they ran in the old days doesnt mean theyre isnt something better now. They also ran open exhaust.Ask scott shafiroff,He use to run those cars with the hookers. When he changed exhaust he gained 3/tenths in a drag car.I had the hookers on my car for 10years but have found the stahls to be better for my situation.

Here's some pics of the stahls. They fit pretty decent. I ordered them partially assembled to save a little money.

Definitly my next $1000+ project.....STAHL HEADERS & SIDEPIPES

Of course without mufflers.

Jere Stahl builds race headers, Hooker used to build Corvette race headers (totally different, I have a set)... what you all have are Hooker street headers.....My Hookers have a 1-7/8 primary tube (reversion plate) with a 3-1/2 collector.......My next set will be a stepped header, probably 1-3/4 stepped to 1-7/8...with a 3-1/2 collector.
...redvetracr

PS: The headers used on the L-88 race cars at LeMans, Daytona, Sebring etc. were Kustom (brand) headers with a backward "K"...you don`t even want to know what those are worth...

The Hooker Sidepipes will produce excellent power with a big block. The key is the muffler. As has been said earlier, the JCL's are the best I have found. I made 483 rear wheel horsepower with open headers and only lost 6 hp with the JCL's (uncapped center pipe).

If you go to my sig and click on the url, you can see the dyno printout with and without the mufflers for my L88 clone. I do miss that car!

WOOOOOHOOOOOOO !!!!!!! I just sent off $1125 to STAHL for my new headers and sidepipes (pay in advance with MO or cash. check, get $50 off & NC shipping). Sold my Hookers that are black ceramic coated for $600. Can't go wrong..... $525 for 2-3 tenths in the 1/4 mile.

Just finished installing some Crane Shaft Mounted Rocker Arms. Who knows....with a set of "skinnies" on the front and some cool weather, Maybe I'll see 11.1s or even 11.0s

Any "quality" sidepipe will look awesome I put Hookers on the car not long after getting the car all together ('round '90-'91). I have just heard of these Stahl headers, I've heard of the company long time ago but did not know they have sidepipes (that actually make horsepower over Hooker). In my case I can not remember the last time I bolted on "maintance-free" horsepower for under $550. I am not expecting the "3 tenths gain" that has been told by a reliable source, so I should be very pleased with the improvement I do get.

This is just more valuable info I have gotten from The Forum.

Thanks

www.stahlheaders.com Get the phone number off the website and call them. There is some info they need from you so you order the correct ones. They offer several different header tube diameters and a couple of other options. I am not getting mine painted. I will get them black ceramic coated once I get them down here.

Are you sure ???? My headers & sidepipes are $1125. Because I am sending them a cashiers check, they took off $50 and not charging me for shipping. Their painting does not cost extra.

$1075 for 1 3/4 - 2 in primaries. If I got the 1 3/4 in. Stahls would I see a $725 performance difference over the $350 1 3/4 in. Hookers ? I could get three sets of Hookers for that price. I know the Stahls are good headers and probably the best but how many HP am I going to gain over the same size Hookers 3HP-5HP for $725 ? Does not add up to me
