Hey ya guys, my friend and I just went to down to an autobody shop where they had two stingrays - the first was a semi-rusty corvette that was covered in snow ( a lot o f snow ) , I asked the guy there if it was for sale and he said he had another better C3 for $7500 .
My question is...should I get this car and work on it ? I'm a 9th grader right now with kind of a lot of money. Should I get this Corvette and rebuild it with a new engine (LS1 or LS6).
If I want it to perform really good with no problems - what should i do to it
Can you expound on what you think "alot of money" is. These cars can get very expensive if you going to do them the "right way" and not just throw on cheap aftermarket crap on them. Just a heads up..have you had someone that knows vettes look at the prospective purchase? If not do that ...don't want a young and upcoming "vette enthusiast" ..one of our own...getting his eyes poked! Joe!

Yes!, rebuild it with triple Whipples and name it "Merlin 2".
Hold onto your money till you can get a better one. Sounds like those 2 will result in you spending 3 times the Vettes value just to get it street ready. Spend 10K you get a relaible car to start with and less headache down the road.
If you are really serious about the car, get someone who really knows vettes to have a look at it. Keep in mind you could easily spend $20,000 on a frame off restoration and decent paint job, and that's with you doing most of the work yourself. Are you in Auto Shop at school? Maybe your instructor could help by letting you bring the car in for an inspection.
Bought mine when I was 15 for $5000, immeaditley put another $5k(interior) in it. Could use more work but my current priority is to pay for college. My adivce to you would be to find the best car you can afford and sitll have enough left to maintain it properly. You can get a good C3 for $10k-$15k that will cost you alot less money and aggrevation in the long run.
well 74flconv, seems you have a good feed of troll on the grill...
Slelica,If you want to learn about vettes just read and ask away, we don't need little kids with a very good imagination asking questions that don't mean anything in this world.
stop the b.s. and ask questions that are reliative and quit wasting the real members time
everyone here is more than helpfull and will actually do some research for you if you need it, but don't cry wolf, you may need some help someday and not get it.
