Here is a pic of a broken leaf on a steel spring. Customer came in yesterday to get a new steel spring from Eaton, which by the way was arched incorrectly. We had to use 10" bolts for his steel spring.

Why not use a spring that IS arched correctly and use the standard bolts?
What if the customer wants to lower the rear. How will he do it now that there are 10" bolts already in place?
Where can you find a replacement spring that IS correctly arched????
As far as I know(which might not be much ) the only springs available are made in Canada,Mexico, or Eatons? I used the Mexicans spring and they don't work any better. If I had a stock pile of NOS GM springs they'd be worth more then some C3's!

Based on the comments posted in this thread about aftermarket springs, here is what you will now see if someone decides to sell their spring on ebay.
" Very Rare original C3 rear steel spring. Not sure what year this came off of, but it's in perfect condition with just a little surface rust. Will improve the performance of any C3. Don't miss out on this one of a kind sale."
Bid starting at $150.00
Buy It Now $300.00.

Eatons are now made in Mexico. They moved their whole plant over there late last year. I buy mine from a local spring shop and only had 1 problem ever w/them. They corrected it the same day.
Dan that's a good sign if you have a local shop fab them up. I spoke with a spring shop here , a pretty good size on too, and they didn't want to be bothered with corvettes! Do you still need to use 8" bolts with them or will the 6.25 stock bolts work?
The mexican springs I have came from CC about 4 years ago and need 8" bolts. Another 7 leaf steel bought from another well known vendor was the same way.
I heard of Eaton spring and it was mixed reports, sounds like the rest.
I don't like the glass springs too much so there's not much to choose from.
I would be concerned buying a used spring off ebay.
well, let's see, that factory air cleaner wing nut went for $30 something on ebay, so a 7 leaf rear spring from a 73 is worth what, 5-6 thousand dollars? I'm accepting bids now. Love my vbp fiberglass spring!

Don't forget the 2 engine mount bolts that went for something like 215.00 NOT including shipping.
My factory steel spring has a cracked leaf in it AND one leaf was formed upside down. The tapered end is bent the wrong way. Still has the slopped on gray primer paint and broadcast code stamped on it. I wonder if GM would warranty the one bad leaf?
Just for reference, I have an old AO Smith/TRW fiberglass spring on there now and the ride height is fine. One of these days I will have to go measure the bolts as I know they are not the factory ones. The Bilsteins cured the bounce.
