Retain the stock hood - oh yes, I know that dilemma! I have a BB 454, but I plan to keep the stock manifold to retain hood clearance. I will spec out a high-lift, short duration cam (like a Lunati Voodoo 256) when I rebuild this summer.

Use a drop base air cleaner on the high rise manifolds and you will have hood clearance, can't use stock air cleaner

355 small block, ported Vortec heads modded to accept .575" lift, Comp Cams XE268H-14 224*/230* .510"/.512" w/ 1.6 rr (planning on going to 1.7's pretty soon), 10:1 cr, headers, cutom leg pipes, Ported SLP Runners, Scoggin-Dickey Vortec TPI base, 750 cfm throttle body, accel 24#/hr injectors, untuned 85 computer.

All that and half throttle will get her side ways. Can't wait to get it tuned, and then we'll really have fun.

355, 10:1 compression, Edelbrock RPM heads, Crane HR276 hyd roller, Performer 2101 intake, recurved HEI, Lars tuned Q-jet. Still using the stock cowl induction.

Cruise at 2000 rpm in 5th, pulls hard to about 5500 rpm.

Only real mismatch is that the primaries on the Hooker sidepipes are too big but the pipes do sound good.
