Not the rotor surfaces or the hub, just the outside edge and vanes. I really don't see any factor in that, in fact, I really like it. Oh, and the brake pads as well, and again, no paint on the pad material

Mine were done years ago with a regular spray bomb.

Believe it or not I did a c-5 with Sikkens body paint on a friends car 3 yrs ago. He wanted to match the body color(magnetic red). This is a three stage paint as is is pearl. Job took all weekend cleaning, three applications of paint/pearl/clear. Then had to bring back the factory "CORVETTE" lettering on the fronts.Bottom Line, looks great, nobody else has it, and its holding up fine.
P.S. Materials cost almost $100.00

I just got my VBP Oring rebuild kit yesterday.
After cleaning, I am going to use POR-15 silver.
Fluid proof and rust proof.

I don't know about you guys, but I always drip some fluid
when bleeding brakes. Enamel is a no-go for me.

OK - maybe, but then you gotta go with silicone fluid.

I bought a set of unused VBP O ring callipers from a forum member & they had been painted silver with what looked, felt & behaved exactly like Hammerite. As I was going to paint them with silver Hammerite anyway, I just painted on a couple of coats to cover the chips & fitted them to the car in place of the stock ones (which I'd painted with silver Hammerite ). It's not a paint for those who want a perfect finish, but it resists the heat (been using it for years), is easy to apply, is fairly tough & resists dirt buildup. Easy to clean as well, just brush on some engine degreaser & wash it off. If you just want the callipers to look OK & the finish to be low maintainance (ie you haven't got the time/inclination to spend time cleaning callipers) then it's good stuff. It's looks a lot like thick powder coat with bad orange peel effect (the "Hammered finish". There's also Smoothrite but it takes longer to apply as brush marks & runs stand out, so you can't just slap it on in the same way). Brake fluid melts it but I've found that any fluid I spill on it when I bleed the brakes (& I always get some on it) doesn't do any harm as long as I wipe it off fairly quickly. Other finishes I've tried (eg 2-pack paint) lift immediately fluid touches it. Wouldn't recommend it for use on rotors as extreme heat will damage it.
As i said, it's not for show cars, but if you want a good low maintaince protective finish it's good stuff. With 2 years of use on the Vette the hammerite looks the same as the day I painted it on.

Anybody still running the stock caliper set up should consider changing to the VBP O ring setup. No leaks, no frigging about bleeding the brakes every spring, no fluid running down the inside of the tyres over the winter, no melted caliper paint(!) from seeping seals, no nasty surprises when the brakes are needed, etc, etc, etc. At last, brakes as reliable as any other car. Do I get my free VBP T-shirt now?

I used the RED Duplicolor caliper spray bomb during my rebuild. They look great after 2 years of driving it that way.

Cleans up well with a simple wash cloth too! See pic under avatar
