fiberglass repairs
1. the right side hood cutout had a crack
2. the right side metal reinforcement that the hinge sits on was severly cracked
So instead of glassing over I made stress relief holes using a 3/16 drill bit at the fractures end's. I then used a dremel cutting disc and cut out the fractured fiberglass and opened up the crack some more. Lastely instead of using fiberglass matte I cut up the cloth in tiny bits and mixed it into the resin/ hardner and applied the mix into the cracks 2 times till I built up the fill. the next day the fill was hard as rock. I hit it with a screwdriver and it's adhesed on there hard. Once sanded/ smoothed I repainted the hood and you can't tell it was ever there.
I also use the 3M plastic 50 grit media "wire wheel" to clean off all the hardware/ every single nut and bolt that all got 4 coats of clear gloss and the damn hood and all it's hardware looks like it just came out of the factory!
Before/ after pics to come when the entire engine bay gets done.

can't wait to see the pics.
