I just bought these for my 77 L48 auto today. I have true duals already, but with the stock exhaust manifolds.

I didn't buy this yet, because I need to speak with my mechanic (brother) to decide if this is right for what I want.
Elelbrock Cam and Lifters, Hydraulic Flat Tappet, Advertised Duration 278/288, Lift .420/.442, Chevy, Small Block, Kit
Also coming is a set of Dart Pro 1 heads and a Dart intake manifold. I am looking to graduate from Disco Vette to Real Vette on a budget. I want to get the wife a new kitchen, and I really don't want to drop a crate motor in, because I do not want to trip over the stock engine in the garage for the next 10 years like my dad did with his '63 vert.
Do you think I can flirt with 250-300 HP with this setup?
Wow not bad. I need to freshen up my L48 but im in the middle of keeping it running and driveable now (frt susp rbld, main seal). I am most likely going to go the vortech head kit route.
You will be around 300 hp with that cam but I would step up at least one more, I have run the Summit brand version of that cam on a 8.5/comp eng similar to a L48 and it was a very nice street/cruiser combo, since you are going with better heads I would step up some with the came to take advantage of increased flow of the heads and exh. I am going to running a 214/224 (@050 lift) duaration with .442/.465 lift cam with some 64cc trick flow heads and should see around 320-350 hp at the crank with good low end torq, should see a little more duration and lift with 1.6 rockers.
BTW the summit brand cam and lifter kit is only about $80.
