Default Pinion yoke removal question...

I'm trying to remove my 1350 series pinion yoke so that I can install the shorter and smaller 1310 series yoke to get my temporary driveshaft installed. However - the nut that holds it in place is very tight and when I try to get it lose, the yoke flexes and the car tries to go backward.. I'm sure that I would be able to prevent it from flexing - I would get the nut loose.. I might try to block the yoke so that it can't move..

Any other ideas on how to remove that yoke??

If the nut is that tight, a torch and an impact wrench...torch the nut, and use the impact...go to your local urentum if you don't want to buy a impact, but they are dirt cheap, and you should have one anyhoo.

The impact wrench is cheap but the compressor isn't..

I'm actually surprised how tight it is considering that it has only been in place for about a year...

When I took mine off, I used a pipe wrench to hold the the yoke. Use a hammer to hit the breaker bar and that should bust it loose. make sure you mark the nut and count the threads that are showing . when you install the new yokego a 1/4 turn past where it is now and that should set the crush collar.

I like the roll bar you had installed. I'm going to install one in the next month or so. Thanks for the pics now I know what I need to do. You had said a while back that Little john was doing some work on your car. Did you back half the car? Anyway I'll be at Moroso sat good luck with you project. Vince

Thanks!! I'll try that tomorrow!!

I wanted to get the work done at Little John's, but he's too busy to take small jobs right now.. I also moved to the Tampa area and he's now 260 miles from my current location... I didn't back half the car.. I'm going with Tom's 12-bolt IRS setup...

It seems to me those are torqued to about 350# (maybe it was only 200).

Need more than a socket wrench.

I have a small compressor and impact wrench.. Do you want to use them? Let me know, and I will give you directions to the house.

It`s just an observation BUT if you don`t have the proper tools to remove the yoke, then you don`t have the proper tools to install the replacement yoke.....Pull the rearend and take it to someone who does..
