undercoating thoughts?

undercoating thoughts?
This has been an ongoing debate for my local hotrodders and body guys--so I thought I'd use this forems VAST opinions on undercoats... Here goes some guys say to use none ..some say use rino lining truck bed liner.. some say use the glue in rubber pads in the wheelwells.. some use spray on rubberized coatings -some that tar based stuff -some just paint under like the top . what ya think??

A clean painted fenderwell looks nice, but you need something to protect your exterior paint against rockchips. You will get little stars on the tops of your fenders if there isn't something underneath to cushion the rocks.

I just cant deside --the rino coating sounds kinda neat -but what if you had to fix a crack or something _the rubber pads are what the pre 1950"s guys are useing now...hmm..just need more input

well since the inner fenders are fiberglass you are only protecting those from rock chips and i think any thing would work ok....i just pressure washed the bottom and painted everything with gloss black rustoleum....nothing fancy
