What would be a good start for initial timing on a stock (except headers, manifold) 68, 327/365?

Engines usually dictate where they run best, but I've always started at 10 deg. advance and worked from there. Never had a problem , and always had easy initial start-ups.

I figure between 14 and 16 would be good if you can get away with it. The 365 SHP cam is not the most efficient and the big domes you gotta run with it only make it worse. Recurve for a fast centrifugal advance that is all in by about 2700 and run manifold vacuum to a soft can so you get about 16 degrees extra at idle. This all assumes you really are running the factory SHP solid cam. Aftermarket cams may need somewhat slower curves.
