Default Question about door.

My driver side door is missing a rod that holds the door release from inside, therefore I can't open it from the inside, and it also needs a new final gear for the window. I opened the door panels, but that tsuff seems to be behind another metal panel in the door which is bonded to the fiberglass. How should I seperate them, and bond them back? Also I think I'm gonna want to sand that down too, got little rust spots.

On a 68-77 both the inside lock control rods are external to the door. The latch rod is inside the door. There is a metal panel that removes at the bottom of the inside portion of the door. If you remove that you should be able to access the window motor. Corvette Central's catalog has a decent diagram on the "Door" page.

Thank you, but for cleaning purpose what do you use to remove that metal panel? and what do you use to attack it again to the fiber glass?
