Is there enough of a difference between the Hooker comp headers and the super comps? The super comps are extremely expensive. Would they really be worth the money on a street car? What about the Dynomax headers?
The Super Comps are a very good header and a good fit with 2 1/4 primarys but ground clearance is minimal. Unless it`s a racer be aware of scraping objects and denting the tubes.
I put the Super Comps on mine (454+), and am very pleased with them; great fit, easy install, excellent quality. I chose the 1 7/8" tubes with 3" collectors. I'm going to a blower and have re-done my engine, so the 2 1/4" with 3 1/2" collectors might be a better choice now.
Your correct Steve, Super Comp primarys are 2 1/8, not 2 1/4. My mistake and I have 3 pieces with them on. Two early BB Camaros, a 1967 and 1968. and my 1970 A990 hemi Cuda. Great exhaust systems but low to the ground. And Hooker still has the Super Comps available for 65-74 396/502 Vettes. 2 1/8x30 with the 3 1/2 collector. Now sold through Holley
