Default Side Pipe Header Install

I am in the process of getting together some parts for install on my stock 71 L48 350. I will be installing a 350 HP 327 Cam, LT1 intake, Mallory HEI distributor, holley 3310 750 CFM carb, and a set of headers. I have purchased all but the headers.

My question is, I had a look at the way the side pipes are installed on my car and noticed that they look as though there is no disconnect point where they join to the manifolds. Could anyone answer how I connect the side pipe headers to the side pipes?

Also would the above be a good combo to start with to help getting a few more ponies from the stock 71 350?

Any help is appreciated.

PM LOTAHP Norm will have the info. He just ordered headers to go with the sidepipes on his 73.
