Default Finished a caliper bracket today

Well other then powder coating one bracket for the 14 inch rotors is finished.
I finished one of the new caliper brackets today. I test fitted it last night, finished it today and tonight my son will pick it up for powder coating.

Look closely and you can even see a part number. Must be stock if it has a number

Come on Twin Turbo you can 't figure out which is stock and which I intend to use
I ended up making the bracket to fit the rotor, took 5 attempts but the caliper is centered on the rotor and parallel.
Tomorrow night it will be installed.

Thanks Megladon but you and I both know I just cut and welded in a spacer piece. Not a big deal, getting the height right and the offset was.

I had the same thoughts. I had no idea of how you would custom stamp such a part without building a die. the cost and iterations would cost more than my emissions project.

Very clever.

The dead giveaway that they are phoney is that original part numbers are always in Helvetica, and those are obviously Times New Roman.

I would love to drill holes in it but I am afraid of weakening it. Do you really think I should drill it?? You guys are getting me paranoid when it comes to drilling holes in brake parts.

you MADE that thing?

You're like the Norm Abrams of metal. That has to be the best Vette ever built, and NOT by GM. You should remove the GM plates and make your own that state Re-engineered by Norval.

Nice work!

Thanks but look at 632/steve's car. It has alot more work then mine. Twin turbo is also alot more radical, Mine has lots of trick parts but overall resembles stock alot more then these cars. We have alot of talented people on the forum and those brackets just show a little of my welding skills and alot of grinding. Nothing really special.

I'm afraid you're going to get bracket flex as it is because you're 2" longer now making a longer moment arm. It will be interesting to see if it works ok or you will need to make a thicker bracket or add bracket stiffeners.

The billet machined high strength aluminum brackets 427V8 designed to mount wilwoods to stock rotors look awesome and i'm looking forward to putting them on in the spring.

You're doing a fine job and I'm sure the end product will be a work of art but could you explain the benefit of larger rotors when the stock ones can lock up the wheels. Once you achieve lock-up, there's no more braking force left.

I agree. I was capable of locking the front wheels up before and now with the larger rotors it should be even easier. I also agree that if you can lock the wheels you don't need better calipers either.
It is just a exercise to see if I can do it.
They will also look good behind my new 18 inch wheels.
