Default '79 armrest repair...

Do any of you have any experience with the $5 repair kit found at Ecklers, MidAmerica, etc that has a screw and an insert to reattach the inner armrest to the doorskin? The top part came loose on my passenger side, and I hate to "bubba" it up, but I don't see how that kit works.

Any experience, or any other ideas on how to fix it? Thanks!

That part is to shore up a cracked nose. If the mounting screw has pulled out of the door it is not a fix. But I have one if you are interested.

The cheap repair only works if the only part broken is the end where the screw goes through. If the break is farther up, like mine was, it won't help.

Default Thanks!

Yeah, the screw pulled out of the door. It's really no big deal - just wondered if that was a quick fix. Guess I could take the door panel off and fix it thatway...or, I could just realize that it's a 25 year old car and just let it go and enjoy it.

As a matter of fact, think I'll go wash it right now...

Thanks for the answer. bkerlee

That works if the plastic on the end of the handle is broken. It slide in where the screw is and it's screwed in the handle and in the door. I use it and it worked just fine.

The fix for the door is a $0.25 speednut.
