Those are REALLY bullet style. Did you paint to match? And also the previous question about the Console being one piece? That actually looks nice. I'd do that if I didn't think it were some old time special mod or a one off. Realy looks nice, and the cell phone on the console, a little modernization!
Thanks for all the nice comments on the mirrors. They are from a 95-97 Olds Aurora. The original metal posts were too short so I had to remove them which was a bit difficult as they were pressed in. Once they were out, I tapped some 1/4" X 20 threads into the existing holes and got some 1.5" 1/4" X 20 stainless steel studs and nuts to match. The rest was just a matter of drilling and squeezing my hand in the opening. Total time, not counting paint...about three hours. The paint was easy to match because I did the paint and upholstery myself. The center console is built from 1/2" plywood, foam and naugahyde and a couple of hinges. It makes the right elbow much more comfortable and gives me a place to store stuff. The steering wheel is Formuling France with a custom made adapter that I had machined out of 3/4" aluminum. With the new motor mounts, the old betsy feels like a brand new car.
Have any pictures taken further back? You haven't been around in a while?
I will take some pix further back. Trying to decide on a new color to paint the car. This color is getting old. It's been about ten years since I did paint job. Picking a new color takes about a year or two for me. I get onto the forum every now and then but not as often as I'd like. Take care......
I've added more photos to my original post. See the first post of this thread......

Yeah I noticed them to, I just didn't want to rain on the Mirror parade by asking about them just yet. I like the look of them too. I am planning to do something different to my door panels yet retain a look that they came that way, kinda hard to do but Fontking has accomplished it.
Back to the mirrors, Is there a difference between the Aurora mirrors and the C-5 Corvette mirrors? They look a lot a like. I was planning on using the C-5 mirrors on my '80, these look good and may be more readily available and cost less at a salvage yard.
Thanks for sharing this fontking and come by to see us more often, jim
I like the look too. Nice customization without overkill, good job I'm in the process of installing C5 wagon wheels and was thinking about C5 side view mirrors. You inspired me to really look into it.

I picked up a set of the Aurora mirrors today, They do have several wires running to the mirrors, I am thinking that they have memory and require the additional wires for that feature. Then there is the heated glass wire as well. I'd like to have a wiring diagram for them.
They are a little larger than I had thought also. I have to get out to the garage and play around with them to see how I am going to like them. I believe that moving the mounting location down and forward a little will help them too.
All in all I believe they are going to look good. I have a Super '80 hood on my car and I believe that will allow the mirrors to blend a little better.
Thanks for the additional pictures to illustrate the fit to the body. I was hoping you would post more. Thanks, jim
I would mount them pretty close to the same place I did. You just need the Aurora switch to make them work as they should. You should be able to find that on ebay. Too much work for me!! The angle of the doors and the angle of the mirrors is critical. Don't go down too far or the mirror will hit the window. I should have mounted them about 3/8" higher. The fix, if you do mount them lower is to file or sand off enough metal on the base of the mirror to change the angle. I'm still going to do that to mine...when I get some time. Good luck
The mirror glass moves, not the head. It has some sort of gear setup and you can manually move it to adjust. It would be nicer to use the electronics but that is a whole bunch of work for an older guy with less patience than you younger guys. I will post a couple more pictures of the view from the inside of the car. As a side note, I first saw these Aurora mirrors at Roy Brizio's Open House about a year ago. Roy has his shop about two blocks from mine and is a fairly well known "hot rod builder". There were about two thousand hot rods at the show and the whole town was bumper to bumper with nice rides. A gentleman and his wife had their fifties cruiser in all turquoise on display in front of the shop and the mirrors grabbed my eye. They looked beautiful and after questioning the owner and his wife about them I learned they came from an Olds Aurora. When they arrived I was stunned at how big they were. In fact, I was a bit pissed because I didn't think they were useable. My wife said they would look great but I had my doubts. After about six weeks of staring at them in the box I decided one Saturday to give it a try. Once they were on the car, I loved them and they didn't look so big. The problem was my other mirrors were SO SMALL. If you look at today's cars, these mirrors are average size. The new C5s and C6s have about the same size mirror. It was just a question of being used to "the old stuff" and not having an open mind. As usual, I should have listened to my wife in the first place. Even if I didn't like them, and I really do, you can see so much better and what once was a car with a lot of blind spots is now a car I feel safer in than ever because I can see so much more of what is going on behind me and to the sides. Thanks....Oldsmobile....you helped make my "Old-mobile" a safer car.
