Default 550lb springs and lowering

Do 550 lb springs actually lower the front an inch. I was going to just cut half a coil off the stock springs. what advantage would there be to getting the 550# springs instead. BTW I have a composite rear spring and bilstein autoX rear shocks, KYB front shocks. I really just want it lowered for a better stance due to 255/45-17 tires, there is too much tire to wheel well gap.

550 coils minus one coil puts me at 26.5" Your mileage may very, hench cutting 1/2 coil at a time or less is the way to go. Will firm up the ride a bit, but the rear spring is what really affects the ride.

Depends on what's in your engine compartment, my '69 with alum heads, intake, water pump, rack and pinion steering, radiator, sits at 27.5".

Time to cut a coil I guess...

Here is my car with the 550s installed. I had 460s then went to 550s. It lowered it about a 1/2 inch from the 460s. I have 255 45 17s also. I might go back to the 460s and cut them some to lower it.
