Default 79 Power Door Locks

When I purchased my 79 a few months ago I knew the power locks didn't work and am just now getting down to them on the rather long list of things to do. I have power to both switches and both appear to work on the bench - at least they transmit power to the other terminals depending upon the switch position. Hooked up I get nothing. I find it really difficult to believe that both solenoids are bad - but given the previous owner's neglect, anything is possible. Has anyone run into this trouble and were you able to fix it? If so, how? Thanks.

Check the pigtails at the actuators with a test light. If you have power there then your actuators are bad if not replace the pigtails.
Actuators about 40.00.

Any hints on how to get size 10 hands inside that access and unplug the pigtails? I can't seem to figure out the catch on the plug.

If I remember there is a single clip on the top side of the connector on the actuator that you pull up on while removing the plug. I will go out tomorrow and take a look to make sure I am telling you the right thing.
Don't you have an access plate that comes off? My 80 has one.

I have the access panel off but am having a hard time seeing the clip clearly - I would hate to pull on the wrong thing the wrong way and break the thing. Another question, please. If I connect the 12v from the switch pigtain to one of the two (passenger side has only two) connectors to the actuator, I'm guessing that it should either lock or unlock. It has been a VERY long time since I delt with electronics...ugh
