Default Problem Starting. Electrical??

While driving around in the great weather we were having today my vette backfires and you can hear the pop in the carb, then a vacuum hose comes loose and my cars dies. It starts right back up and I can hear the hissing so I pull over at the next convienent place and turn off my car. Replace the vacuum hose and then my car won't start. After about 10 min of trying to figure out whats wrong my friend who was in the car with me starting fooling with the hose that came off. He puts his finger on/off of it and doesn't feel any air movement, then on the following attempt at starting he starts to feel movement and then it starts..runs fine back to his house where i turned it off and 45 min later it started right back up. Drove to the autoparts store then home, so thats a total of 3 times it started up inbetween it dying on me. And now it wont start again. I changed out some old hoses connected to the carb/manifold and made sure i put them in the correct spot. I have no idea why it won't start.

on a side note i just replaced the distributer cap/roter, could it be a possible failure in some of the parts in their we did not replace? Any ideas would be appreciated.

i took off one of the spark plug wires off the distributer cap and held a scewdriver close to it when i tried starting it. no lil shock, no lil blue spark. Im guessing I need a new distributer coil.

I would have to guess ignition module is going bad.

make sure your getting 12v to the distributor. Should be a small plug that goes up underneath the drivers side of the cap marked "12V" and "Tach"
If the 12 V wire is coming loose...could be it
