Default rear allignment

I put my corvette in the shop for new springs and shocks. At the time I showed my mechanic that the rear wheels toed out and asked if that will be fixed when I get the car back. He said I might need a rear allignment. I never heard of a rear allignment. can anyone tell me if this is something that needs to be done and is something thats done often.

I have learned so much in the last month from this forum. thanks to all the other new corvette owners for asking questions that I have to yet to run into and thanks to all the great replies. I'm finding out everyday that corvette ownership is a life style not a hobby

The most difficult and most expensive part is to change the trailing arm shims.... they are often rusted and not moveable...
Before you bring it in to get the alignment done make sure your shims are ok... loosen the trailing arm bolts, try to move the shims, soak them in penetrating oil as needed and also make sure the trailing arm boilts are not rusted to the inner sleeve. They will charge you big $$$ if these parts are stuck and have to be replaced.... you may want to install the stainless steel kit (bolts, nuts and shims) before you have the alignement done...

thanks, I'm slowly learning some of this stuff. Stupid me said to the mechanic to "just do what it needs. I want the car fixed when I pick it up". I think this will be another expensive lesson that I've learned. Thats why it's better for me to look at this as a life style and not a hobby that is breaking the bank... haha

Before I do anything else on my car. I'm going to post what I want to do and take advantage of the knowledge and help that is offered by the great people in this forum. And NO, I'm not kissing up or anything you guys that have been through this and are taking the time to help us new corvette owners can't be thanked enough
