Hello the search is on, I need to know the carb number for a 1968 327 350hp. I have found the number for the 300hp but am not sure if they placed this carb on the higher hp engine. Thanks for all the help again, steve
7028219 is the number and then you will need to get a correct date code to correspond to your build date if you want to get that close.
I spent 2 years finding the correct carb for my 68 327 with 350HP L79 motor.
Lars, who is on this forum, may be able to help you. He set mine up and it runs perfect.

Steve -
Here is a listing of common '68 Q-Jet numbers. The hi perf 327 is the 7028219, but any of these carbs will run very well on your setup. Yes, they did install "incorrect" carbs on engines - I've been able to document this through my research several years ago: If they ran out of one carb number in the Barrel-O-Carbs on the assembly line, they pulled a carb out of the other Barrel-O-Carbs rather than stop the line. The most common "incorrect" carb switch at the factory was using an "automatic" carb on a 4-speed car - I have seen several cases of this on documented 1-owner cars.

Do an EBay search for the correct carb number you are looking for and you will eventually find one. Be patient - it took me almost 6 months to find a correct one for my car. It's now sitting in a box waiting for Lars to install it in June.
Also, there are websites that sell them, if you want to get one quickly and spend bigger $$.
I've seen very few of these "correct" ones ever for sale. What's even MORE amazing, is for the 9,440 '68 Corvettes made with this carb, they seem either extinct or non existent I once called a place in Texas(I think it was OEM Carbs)and they had a FULLY restored one for like $1600 Last year at Carlisle, I saw a rebuildable correct "219" core for $550 Seems as though these original "219" carbs got thrown out with the smog pumps & exhaust manifolds in the early Seventies
