Alternator and wiring Id question?
What is the name of the main wire that plugs into the alternator. I'm going to replace the alternator, so I figured this would be the best time to replace that old wire/ers. I just dont know what to look for.. part wise. I've looked at Zip and Ecklers and there seems to be so many different wireing harnesses, I dont know which one ?It also looks like this wire plugs into a fuse box or junction box on the fire wall. Is this accurate? Or does it travel someplace else.

You can get an alternator pigtail from most of the chain auto parts stores. If it ain't broke, don't fix it though. If you want to replace the entire harness to the fusebox, the alternator is part of the forward lamp harness.

If you have to replace, that one wire will run all the way to the junction box under the brake booster it will have a large spade (compared to the others) type connector plug on that end. You will most likely break off every tit on the wiring loom connectors trying to remove them from the body, the same with the junctions connections on the harness itself. Alternator pigtail is the way to go unless you know you have bad wire. Mine was about 2.00 from The Zone.
