Default Back-up light help

Just changed out all my exterior bulbs, and upgraded to halogen fronts and highbeams on the 69. Everything looks great, lots of light with the upgraded headlights, except now I'm not getting any action from my two inner tail lights. These lights never worked for me and I'm wondering how they're suppossed to work. Should they light up when the headlights are on? Do they get brighter with braking? Also, when I put it in reverse I get nothing from the built-in back-up lamps, and now I'm thinking it has with the switch(4 speed). Any help would be great.

Hi: In the '69, the only thing the inner rear tail lights are used for is for "back up lights". Only in the '68, are are all four taillights functionable for lights, brake lights, turn singal, etc. So, to answer your question: First, check the back up light switch at the trannie, these got out of sinc & is a common problem. If that's not the problem, check the grounds for each back up light.
