I just got my car last year and noticed that even though the car has 4 wheel discs and doesn't weigh chit, it won't stop for chit when I get on the brakes hard. Pedal doesn't move much and feels like it's all I can get out of it and the car only slows to a stop. I will be checking the pads when it comes out of storage. I've heard some tips on going stainless in the caliper? I was told the master cylinder was replaced recently.
Start the car up and let run for a minute or two. Shut it off, push on the brake pedal a few times to ensure there is no vacuum in the booster. Press firmly on the brake pedal and start the car. If the booster is working the pedal should move as it is getting additional assistance from the vacuum booster.
I would suggest a good repair manual, most have pretty good details on the braking system on how to trouble shoot it, I only have a Chilton's manual which is pretty much a bottom of the barrel manual but is does have braking info.
