Oil Pan

I then pulled up a 74 Vette with 454 (last year they were available) and it uses a 14091356 oil pan.
So, your guess is probably as good as mine. Either the vette pan is different to clear the steering gear, or there was a change over the years between 74 and 81. The 14091356 pan was not used on 74 trucks either (also called for the 10181247), looks like only the vette used the 1356.
You might want to go talk to the parts guys at your local Chevy dealer about this, some of those guys are really good at what they do and could probably give you a quick answer.
If I were a betting man, I would say no, the truck pan won't work. Possible the oil pickup is different as well?
What's the oil capacity of the pan on the truck motor? Chances are you will need to buy a Corvette-specific pan. Our steering gear can interfere with bigger pans... Maybe someone here can post a photo of their stock pan and you can compare that photo with what you have. The likely issue is how far forward the deep part of the pan runs. Too far and it hits your steering gear. As an aside, the new (Gen VI) BB crate motors often have their stock 6-quart pans swapped out with a 4-quart pan that GM sells - all to fit in our cars. Of course, you will need the earlier style pan for our two-piece rear seals... I don't think Gen V motors came out until well after the time of your truck motor - but check it out for presence of two-piece rear seal.
I did, however, have to bang the living s**t out of the pan (crank) scraper to clear the rods. Also some hammer work on the pan rails.
Well, at least the windage tray doesn't hit.
