Default Ecklers Showroom Trip

I'm sure some of you have been to Ecklers Corvette Parts in Titusville, FL. I was in Orlando over the weekend and took a drive to check out the showroom. I just knew I would see greats parts and accessories that weren't advertised in the catalog and Vettes everywhere. The weather that morning was great . . . around 75 degrees, warm breeze blowing, minimal traffic . . . just a great drive. This place was so easy to find too. Titusville is really run down or maybe I just didn't see the upscale neighborhoods. I"m thinking the whole time that I could afford a place here near the ocean with nice weather year round. Heck, I might even have the coolest C3 there. I'm looking into selling my place in NC today.

Anyway, the Ecklers complex was a big disappointment. Two large buildings and just a small showroom, with no used C3's for sale. No Vettes at all. Just parts. It was clean though. They had nothing except what is in their catalog. Nothing on sale either. The counter person was giving a customer (not American) a hard time because he couldn't understand the Eckler's return policy on parts. I stayed about 30 minutes and headed back to Orlando to ride the Mummy at Universal Studios and eat a juicy Cheezeburger at Marguaritaville. I did both.

Saw a good many C5's over the weekend but only one C3 - a nice blue '71 convertible. Stopped by a high end car dealership across the street from the Mall of Milenia and drooled over a Ferrari Dino and Lamborghini Mercialago (Hope the spelling is close). Now those were nice rides.

I did the same detour when I was on a business trip down to Melbourne a few months ago. It had been a long time since I was there. I too was suprised. Looked like they had to give up that fancy building that they use to have as a showroom. It also looked like they no longer do fiberglass panel manufacturing there. When I asked where they get there fiberglass panels the sales guy said Corvette Image up in the northwest. Times must be harder now with all the competition.

No it is not much! They do have another warehouse down the street. When there is some type of event there other vendors are almost non-existent. Guess they have to be concerned about the competition.

I have seen Breathless Performance there with a dyno though!

Would imagine they do almost all their business via the internet and catalog, no need for a fancy showroom for the occasional passer by.

I rode down to ecklers this past friday. I moved to Port Orange, Fl two months ago from Maryland for school and figured why not take a ride down and check out the place I've been sending all my money. I got the same impression of Titusville. It is a little run down but so are a lot of the atlantic beach towns and cities I've seen so far here. I think it has to do with a bad mix of old development, hurricanes, and constant humidity and moisture. As far as ecklers goes, I wasn't overly impressed or dissapointed. They had a good representation of their catalog in the showroom given it's small size, but nothing to make the trip worthwhile. The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way was the lack of friendliness. When my fiancee and I walked in, not one of the three women working behind the counter said anything, and we were the only ones in the shop. We didn't get a hi, hello, can I help you?, or even a smile. They only acknowledged me when I walked to the counter to buy a few items. The women running the parts pick-up counter around the side of the other building were very friendly though. Overall, I'd say it was an ok experience but I won't be stopping by there again unless I'm in the area and really need something.

I was born down there; US 1 curves, and they call it Titusville. Went there for the first time this summer, very disappointed.

I've been there 3 times. Each was for their annual car show/swap meet which IS worth going to. Other than that, they're just another parts slinger.

The lady at the parts counter is the friendliest employee that they have
Titusville is a little run down but there are some nice neighbourhoods ... just not on US1 or Highway 50

I only go to Ecklers if I need something quick and don't want to wait for the item to be shipped.....
