On my 71 vert, I put KYB GR2's (I have the composite rear spring). They seem like a good compromise between a cruising ride and a stiff ride...I use mine as a cruiser, and didn't want to feel EVERY pebble I drove over....
What he said. Makes the car ride like it cost more than it did.

I just installed four Bilstein sport shocks on my Camaro last weekend, wow, what a difference !! Stiff ride but not too uncomfortable - highly recommended !!
