Default Carb for 383....

Ok, I have an Edlebrock 600 that was on the motor when it was still a pretty stock 350.

Now that it's a "Healthy" 383 - I'd like to get a better carb. Current setup is a Luanti HR 227/230, Trick Flow heads, 10.3:1 compression, Edlebrock EPS intake, Headers, etc.

Well, as it turns out my cousin was going to purchase an Edlebrock carb for his 69' Mustang. So, I've talked him into taking the Edlebrock off my hands.

Which leaves me without a carb.....(which is a good thing )...

I'm thinking 750 with vac sec - but do you go Holley or BG?

Any suggestions or anyone with a Carb sitting around you want to get rid of?

From experience i hated my hollley 750 and absolutely love my speed demon 750. If you're running a 4 speed go with mechanical secondaries. I could never get the old holley tuned correctly, switched to the bg and its been running great ever since.

You can't beat the 4779 Holley 750 with mechanical secondaries for price and performance. If it is new it will run perfect for your setup.

Have a BG 750 vac secondaries on my 350 and I'm planning to carry it over to my 383 project. Some consider it "too much" for a 350, which makes it just right for a 383 ;-) For quality reasons alone I would choose a BG over Holley. I bought used and rebuilt.

I have an Edelbrock Performer 800 CFM on my 383....I have dyno tuned it for my engine, CC 286HR hyd. roller cam, 10.9 CR, 4.11 gears, automatic w/3000 stall converter.......I am very satisfied with this carb, as I have not had to touch it since initially tuning it (unlike previous Holleys I've owned).......totally streetable, 11.8 ET in 1/4 mile.

Well, I actually have all the hard lines and fittings for the Edlebrock.....I don't wonder if a larger Edlebrock wouldn't be the way to go.....
