My winter project has been a head swap. I'm using the Summit-label Dart Iron Eagle SS heads...a big step up from my stock L82 smoggers.
...and somewhere along the line I decided to get the intake and exhaust manifolds ceramic coated. Along with the chrome valve covers, this baby's gonna shine in the Texas sun!
Another forum member is coming over to help set up the valves on Saturday...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I did everything right!

That looks real good. You don't see many in the Chevrolet blue color. I like the blue when it is done nicely and the engine and compartment are clean. Let us know how the performance changed. Im assuming it was all stock before you changes this go round?
Replace your heads with aftermarket ones...almost all of them have raised valve rails in order to accomodate roller rockers.
On the other side of the equation, I had to grind down the lugs on my exhaust manifolds to make 'em fit below the raised valve cover rails...look closely at the photos...
On the other hand, who can see the oily, greasy block that lurks below the heads?
Do what I did, paint the block black
Looking good, hope it comes together with no snags. Be sure to let us have impressions of the new heads (seat of the pants dyno readouts!). Still waiting for my heads.....
