I'm in for a general and tech section... too many important tech threads are lost within a day. I'll give you an example.. I just ran a search to find posts of "majic1984," looking for the post I made yesterday about my auto tranny boot being destroyed... well, the search function isn't digging everything up properly and now I can't find it... it's probably about 5 pages long gone by now.

Split it, Squeaky wheel always gets the grease. Then you could rename it "CORVETTE CENTER ACTION FORUM"

I would like to see General and Tech and I would move the "Sale" stickys at the top of the page to "C3 Parts" where it belongs. Right now 20% of the first page is parts sales.

I am totally against the split but IF it had to be done. general and tech is all that is needed.

So where does Tech end and General begin? Seems to me that a prettty good split would go along functional area lines. If you want to keep it to two sections, why not Drivetrain and General. Seems like half the posts here are about engines/clutches/transmissions and the other half are, well, general. Of course, I'm not sure where that leaves us in terms of suspension/steering/brakes.

General = Wipers, carpet, what wax to use, etc
Tech/Performance = HP cams, 17" tires, and rebuilding TA's

Trust me it will cut down on the same post every other day.

Personally I don't lose sleep over it either way. I do know it will double my time to search out interesting articles posted by others by / flip flopping between screens/sections and undoubtedly missing info. But if it makes the small group of people that are unaware how to operate the page up/ down keys happy I'll gladly oblige them.

Troy,
I'd recommend the general and various tech section approach. Works well in corvettefaq.

I like it the way it is. This place is kinda like going to a bar or something similar and meeting a few friends who are interested in Corvettes. We sit around and BS about our cars and new parts etc but if you have ever been at a get together like this, not all the talk is about Corvettes other topics will be discussed as well, just like it is here.

BUt if it has to be split I say make two categories one for the people who want it split up and the other for the people who don't

General & Tech would seem to be the best IMO. If Dave & George need some help here maybe they could have another mod brought up from the ranks.

I would say leave it alone but if it should be split up then have two catagories.

1. C3 General
2. C3 OT

Default Recommendation on Split

I recommend the two following categories:

C3Forum (NO Engine/Transmission Discussions)

C3Forum (Engine/Transmission Discussions)

This format is used on the Dodge Cummins TDR forum and I find it helpful.

Why do you have to be so belittling thinking people who are for would be dumb and not have your expert internet skills. Hell if I wouldn't be able to scroll up or down how would I get past your signature?

Just kidding.....

If it's going to split, then General and Tech should be good enough to keep everyone happy.

Just remember to not slam the person who posts in the wrong section, it's going to happen, just be nice and let the dust settle.

As a long time opponent of the C3 forum split, I have to say that I think it is probably time...

my .02 cents
