Default Section split?

If we were to split the C3 sections into two or more sections how do you think it would work best?

General & Tech?

General, Tech, Resto?

General, Tech in multiple sections (Drivetrain, suspension, etc)?

Should the General section include basic in the manual type things? What type of threads would be in General vs. Tech?

Just looking for opinions here on how the split would be best done if we decide to do it.

Troy, I'd gry two: General and Tech/Resto. I find that Resto topics/how-to info often are applicable to my planned technical projects. If they are split, I will likely bookmark the Tech/Resto and spend very little time in the General. I'd rather not have to create separate bookmarks for Tech AND Resto.

My $.02.

Personally I think "General" and "Technical" or "General" and "Mechanical Tech" and "Body Tech" simply because these cars are all 25+ years old so most people are restoring in one form or another. Also if it get's broken down into multiple sections people will be switching between many different formus to read the information which is time consuming especially on dial-up. At the end of the day if the amount of information is over whelming and we are struggling to find what we want we could use the search function more.
Anyway, my ten cents worth.

I feel exactly the same, I'd like to see it split into general and Tech. I also find a lot of the tech/ resto stuff interchangeable.

As a long time opponent of the C3 forum split, I have to say that I think it is probably time...

my .02 cents

thats what i would go for. I'm actually more interested in suspension than all else because i attend HPDE schools and need lots of help making this old buggy run with the newer cars.

thanks for asking!

P.S. I think a major concern of those against any type of split is that the comradery here will be lost. But i think exactly the opposite will happen. We will be able to hang out in sections where people share our same interests and build new relationships and foster an environment where tech issues can move to the next level instead to being shifted into oblivion on page 12.

general as one topic area, and tech/resto in another. although tires/wheels is a pretty big area all the time and maybe deserving of its own area ..

Ithink that it being split up into 3 sections would be great.

1. General Discussion

2. Tech Issues

3. Body & Restoration

my 2 cents.

General and tech would be what I'd like to see. I think resto should fall under tech. I'd like to see a split but not a bunch of forums, 2 will be good. My .02

I think that's .08 now.

I'd say we should keep it to splitting "C3 Corvettes" with a "C3 General" and "C3 Tech".

As for as examples, during the last vote, I categorized the then current 1'st page threads. It took some time so I don't want to do that to the existing 1'st page threads, so here is a cut-n-paste from the last time (7/2004):

Troy,
I would suggest two sections:
1) General/Restoration
2) Technical/Performance Modifications

Number (1) would take care of those members who wish to chit-chat about new paint jobs, cleaning agents, their pet ferrets-dogs-cats, pics of C3s from shows, cruise events, opinions on Ebay auctions, how much is my car worth, where do I buy parts, what is this part, where is Sam123 these days, etc. I don't see a lot of true restoration activity here but include it. It may come back as the C3s age.

Number (2) will tackle the engine, transmission, suspension and the like modification enthusiasts who are truly into Corvette modifications that enable their cars to go faster in a straight line (1/4-mile) or around a corner (road-racing). It would also address carb, exhaust, electrical, cam, and other technical issues that require a truly versed engineer/mechanical type of reply.

If you were to decide to split it, I think General and Tech would suffice...

beater shark probably presented a good outline..
