I'm installing a set of VanSteel trailing arms. They are both in, but the tapped hole for the caliper isn't lining up on the right side. The caliper hits against a part of the trailing arm before it can line up. See picture. Any ideas? I don't want to grind the bottom of the caliper very much. It would weaken the cast metal around the hole. Is there some adjustment I'm missing? The left side trailing arm has 1/4" of clearance in this area, while the right has this interference.
I've got the same arms & the area in question was really tight .... no clearance at all. The caliper surface butts right up against the bracket on both sides.
IMO depending on the amount of space you need, you have plenty of beef on the arm itself, its boxed & braced on the other side and that surface is primarily for the sway bar end so strength or safety should not be compromised if you grind a small relief on the arm....just enough to get the bolt started.
