I've installed a Holley electric choke but I'm looking for a power source (output) that's only live when the car is running (alternator is spinning). The problem I have now when using an ignition source is that whether the car is running or not and the ignition is on the spring on the choke is heating up. So if it doesn't start right up the choke will come off and it becomes harder to start. Any suggestions? It is not recommended to take power off the distributer.
yes, that's a good idea, the 82 has a pressure switch on the back of the manifold, 1 prong is for the nromal pressure gauge, the other 2 are internally switched w/ pressure..it's for the fuel pump cut off in case of too low oil pressure, that would work like a charm.
Not sure what year you have, but someone recommended to me the yellow wire coming from the wiper motor. I tested on my car ('74) and the wire was hot all the time (ignition on or off).
I eventually discovered a switched red wire leading to the emergency start relay (used for by-passing the seatbelt lock feature), passenger side firewall.
Probe around with a test light. You'll find something in a matter of minutes.
