Default Poly vs. Solid Body Mounts

According to zwede's writeup for rubber body mount conversion for 68-72, the rubber mounts raise the body by 3/8". I'm assuming that the same body lift will be achieved for the poly mounts. Is this the case? I wouldn't mind the lift on my jeep (bigger tires ), but for my 68, I'll loose 3/8" ground clearance when I have to lower the suspension. If so, I'll probably stick with the solid mounts.

I am about to do this conversion. Is there any way to machine/trim the mounts to get them down the 3/8"?

Does anyone make a retro kit for 70-72 Model vettes that addresses this?

So are you saying that if the aluminum spacers are replaced with rubber or poly that the body will sit 3/8 higher then stock?

i have read this topic several times on the forum and never chimed in.
but the more i think about it it looks like to me it may cause problems with fiberglass cracking around the bumpers. there are no provisions for the fiberglass to give during the little bit of movement between the body and the frame. soild mounts will not allow the body to move on the frame near as much as the rubber mounts would move. i dont know if anyone else feels this way or has thought about it. just my 2 cents worth. wilson

YES. Will sit higher. What wills670 is pointing out..the rubber mounts can cause flex/movement between the body & frame. Might just create fiberglass cracks around the chrome bumper to frame mounting points. Interesting theory. Anyone have expierence with this????
