I asked some guy about that same vette last week... I asked for more info about it. Turns out he's an ambassador to Italy, and had to leave the country....yeah right. You think people are that dumb??? I'm sure people have fallen for it though or these items wouldn't be out there....
The reason they probably state Italy is because that country has the worst vehicle registration system ever, it's just slightly more advanced than writing on the back of toilet paper...it's a mess and you can't rely on it so if you want an italian registration form it's probably not there..and payment is probably western union..pics sure look like takes in the us
I've seen some items get "sold" for unbelievable prices, then the item gets relisted a week later by the same guy. There's some guy out of Mesa, AZ that sells Vette parts that's done this numerous times. He also lists under a number of usernames but all from the same location and the same items keep getting listed under different names. These same usernames are always buying and bidding on each other's stuff. Coincidence? NOT! It's gotten so that if I see that location a red flag goes up for me. Too bad for the honest people in Mesa trying to sell Vette parts.
I've wondered on occasion if I've been shilled but I never bid more than I think a part is worth to me and don't use Ebay's robot bid placer anymore. I've never paid without receiving the item, though, and in most cases it's been as described.
The web in general has become a cesspool for virus's, spammers, identity hijackers, etc. It used to be a great thing for commerce but not so much anymore. Many websites are now recommending that their customers check out their site for what they need and then place their order by phone. It's too bad that a few dishonest people are ruining it for the large majority of honest folks.
