I just bought some Argent Silver wheel paint from Eastwood to use on my truck. I figured it couldn't hurt to try it there.
Same thought. Give Eastwood's a try. I've bought a lot of their restoration paint products and have been very happy.
Caveat: I'm not a NCRS knowledgeable person. I'm pretty sure NCRS folks buy a lot of stuff from Eastwood, but I'm not sure what's in favor and what's not.
I'm trying to locate the RPO GM paint code (#) for the 70' argent silver wheel paint. Anyone know where I could find it? Thanks
I didn't think GM had a RPO paint code for the argent silver so searched the NCRS archives...and it didn't but did learn some additional tidbits that I thought would be helpful for your 70. Eastwood sells an Argent Silver but it lacks the greenish hue characteristic of 68-70 wheels. The Eastwood mix is characteristic of 71-82 wheels.
The Argent Silver you seek goes by a paint code of DAR 8568 and is a formula that changed over that period. A suggestion is to go to www.oempaints.com. The silver/green that matches best with the 69-70 paint is 1983 Maserati Smoky Quartz Metallic BC/CC.
Also the application of the argent silver was limited...the backside of the wheel was semi-gloss black...in fact the entire wheel was painted semi-gloss black (and baked) than the front side sprayed with the argent silver. From the backside, silver overspray could be seen from the rear.
Hope this helps.

This is a quote from Lars Grimsrud paper I found and printed a while back, it is probably still in the archives, or in corvettefaq.
Argent Silver, DAR#8568
mIxing Formula for 1 qt
DMR 433, 416 units
DMR 435, 420 units
DXR 495, 20 units
DMR 499, 160 units
The paper notes that the back of the wheels are not thte same colour, its a light grey, I also have that formula if your interested, it dependes how perfect you want in restoration. Hope this is what your looking for

Here is the info you need:
On the silver painted Rally Wheels, the factory used lacquer, but lacquer on wheels just doesn’t hold up. You can re-shoot them with some good, catalyzed Urethane for a very good quality, lasting finish. Here is the info on both lacquer and enamel for the wheels. This is the correct, factory color:
PPG Lacquer: “Non-Smudge Aluminum” DDL #8568 (thin 50% with thinner).
PPG Delstar (catalyzed enamel)
(Mix 8:6:1 Delstar/DTR601 Reducer/DXR80 Catalyst):
“Argent Silver” DAR #8568
Mixing Formula (1 qt):
DMR 433 416 units
DMR 435 420 units
DXR 495 20 units
DMR 499 160 units
If you want to prime the wheels first, I recommend using PPG DP40LF Epoxy Primer mixed 2:1 with DP402LF Catalyst. This will give you a bullet-proof finish.
The BACK side of the steel GM Rally Wheels and the rim/bead area was not painted silver. Rather, the entire back of the wheel and the bead area was painted an odd light grey color (I have heard some were black, but I've never seen an original wheel that was black on the back side - all old wheels I've been able to recover have been this grey color). This color is perfectly matched with the following Delstar mixing formula. This is the tip-top finishing touch for a set of perfectly restored Rally Wheels:
For a easy local source, Ford sells Argent wheel paint over-the-counter in rattle cans. May not be NCRS perfect, but I can't tell the difference and it's holding up great!
