Default Torque Thrust II Rims

I have a 1976, she has stock rally rims , I want to put the Torque thrust II rims on this car with low profile tires, I want the 17" rims. Does any body know what size rims and tires I can put on this car, say in the front and in the back. what is the max rim width and tire size I can put on and run ?? Its my first vette and Im not up to speed yet on this subject.

17 x 8 with 4.0 inch backspacing.

FRONT TIRES 1976
255/45/R17 will fit without possible rubbing.
255/50/R17 may fit but you could have 50% chance to get some rub at the fender openings with turning. In 1980 they enlarged the fender opening to accomodate the 255 tire option.

REAR TIRES 1976
255/50/R17 without issue

Personally I like the 255/50 option because it matches the OEM 255/60/R15 size, but its up to you. There are many member that have gone 255/45 to avoid any hassles.

For max sizes:
Front: 17 x 9.5 with 275/40 in the front (smaller OD)
Rear: 275/50 (Pats) and 315/35/R17s (GKull)

Brent...

It's funny you ask this, I was inquiring about the same rims for my 78, What I got from the local high performance shop is going with the 17X8 with the 4" backspace, along with 245/50-17"s all around for that even look and which would also lower the vehicle stance a little, I was sold on this until I found out that it would cost around $2100.00 to have them shipped to Hawaii .. I better start shopping around for these elsewhere. one of the dis-advantages of living in hawaii I guess.

I was at the tire shop today for the same thing. Trying to decide between the TT II and the original Crager SS 17 x 8.

I was told the 255 50 17 in the BF Goodrich G Force would work with the back space.

I have a 77. Are the numbers above for the 76 the same as for the 77?

Thanks for any help!
