- Thoroghly clean the floor (etching is not required)
- Use the peel 'n' stick tile (other adhesives have issues with auto fluids)
- Once complete, wax with a commercial floor wax
- Let set for 3 days (curing prevents hot tire marks)
- Done
I followed their instructions and now can clean the floor with a swifter mop and the cars no longer get dusty and it looks cool. I used the black and white checkered pattern but you can get them in almost any color combination. Home Depot has a catalog. By the way, 800 sf cost me around $150.00.
- Model number. Learn something everyday. The box says Armstrong 25222-011 but I couldn’t find it on their web page.
I called Home Depot and said that I actually have Newport 210-72.
Pattern: Candy Square. Which was sold by Armstrong. I searched the web and found this:
http://www.metroflorusa.com/products/classic.html . I got lost on their website.
- Installed it Sep 3, 2003
- Floor jack is not a problem. I do use pieces of plywood for the jackstands though.
- It is holding up very well. I have replaced just one tile and that was because I dropped a utility knife from about 8 ft
and it landed blade down. It gouged the tile but was barely
noticeable. It bugged me so I cut the tile out and put a new
one in.
- My floor was about two years old and had been previously
painted. I didn’t like the paint because it didn’t like brake fluid.
Once is started chipping I spent about 4 hours with the power
washer and removed most of it. I put the tiles right over the top
of the remaining paint.
- I have not had a problem with turning the wheels. I even
squeezed 4 cars in at one time and no problem at all. Occasionally
I bring my tractor in for maintenance and it has knobby tires – still
no problem.

gliot1- Your floor looks like mine used to. Is that the Rustoleum epoxy? I have painted mine twice with it. I acid etched, used TSB substitute, and even belt sanded the concrete. The paint has peeled up both times over the last two winters. I think the road salt may be doing it, but hot tires also lift some. How has yours held up? Did you apply it to new concrete or old? What prep work did you do?

This is what I want to do to my front wall in my garage also. That looks great. I have had this idea in my head for a long time now, just never have gotten around to it.
So many nice garages in this thread it is amazing. I worked out in the garage today and I cussed more about the mess than anything. Time for a garage sale soon.
