When I did the dash and interior on mine, I just got them outta the Mid America catalog. Perfect fit.

Hi Paul!

I know this is going to sound goofy but I'm trying to stick with only GM parts (even if you can't see them). It's a obsession!

Does part number 3937181 sound correct?

Thanks & STW!

Hi guys!

The vents look like part# 602-599 on the MAD page you posted a link to. They are the 78-82 type. Anyone have access to a parts book for the original GM number? Thanks

Well if you think that is the part then I wouldn't worry about it too much. Call them and tell them what part you are interested in and what year and they will let you know.

If it matters that much call the Chevy dealership closest to you and ask about the part and the correct factory part number, I look hard and couldn’t find one...and that’s rare for me. 

I have found the people selling corvette part thru internet and magazines are very helpful and more than willing to talk to you about the part as well as pulling it and installation.

I have a copy of the Corvette Illustrated Parts Catalog from 1981. It
lists the original part no. of 336485. I looked on GM parts direct web
site and it still shows that number as being available with a list price
of $21.

Hi Mark!

CRUD! I've got an opportunity to buy two GM vents pretty reasonable that look identical. The problem is they are showing a part number of 3937181. I wonder if they are the same but the number has been superceeded. I sure appreciate the help

The 3937181 is listed in the same catalog as the outlets for 1977 and 78. Under the footnotes it states that these vents are chrome.
The footnote for 336485 (1979-81) lists chrome edges only.

Hi Mark!

Thanks for your help! I bid and won the NOS vents on Ebay. They were listed for a Chevette! I figured I'd take the risk & if they worked (and looked good) I was golden. Interestingly, they are chrome on the edges only. The best part is that after looking at a set of old vents, they have no part number on the vent itself

Thanks to you, I feel great about my purchase now since the number is correct for a Vette and that I paid a mere $13.

STW!

P.S. Do I tell anyone including the NCRS that my Corvette is part Chevette

Mike, keep one thing in "mind" about your "obsession". Many GM replacement parts AKA "service replacement parts" MAY NOT possibly be the exactly the same due to GM changing vendors over the years. Some places, such as Dr. Rebuild or MidAmerica, may have "more" of a correct part than what you MIGHT get from GM today.
