I’m in the processes of swapping my tired engine with a ZZ4. The ZZ4 came with a HEI distributor and my old setup has an MSD with a mechanical tach drive. Should I keep the new GM distributor and convert my mechanical tach to electric or should I swap the distributor with my existing MSD.

I’m leaning towards using the GM distributor but I’m not sure if this is the best decision. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you have an MSD dist then def use it but you have to switch to a roller can friendly gear on it. If you have a stock GM dist with MSD box then it would depend on what shape the dist is in but you would still have to switch out the drive gear, might even be able to use the one of the HEI dist if the shaft size is the same.

Don't wanna steal your thread but are the 76s mechanical or electrical? 'cause I always thought they were mechanical but some one said a few weeks ago they're electrical.
