Forgive me for not reading every post above, but did anybody mention that lots of cars came from the factory with at least a half inch lean - and they've been that way ever since.
I have not heard of the 1/2" factory lean. Mike, can you shed more light into this. I hate to think in 1982, these car are a little under $20K and some over $20K and they have this 1/2" lean. Just my thought.
Well, I know my alignmnet is out. Can't do much about it until I can get the shims lose from the TA bolts. Right now they are bond together tight. I am waiting for the shim kits and TA botl kit to come in the mail b4 taking a swing at it with a propane torque.
Don't waste too much time and sweat on trying to get these shims loose.... get a reciprocating saw and cut through the shims and bolts - you're going to replace these anyway...
Cutting the bolts off crossed my mine. This is why I ordered bother the shim kit and the bolt kit to do the job. I have look at the front wheel, do they have similar alignment shims? Do they corroded together like the TA shims? Thanks

The front (and everything else) is a piece of cake compared to these 25+ year old rusted TA bolts and shims
I bought a saw only for this job - $59 very well spent.... of course after I tried (and failed) to get the shims out...

Thanks for the tips Redbad79. I have the vette for a couple of months now and if it's not one thing it's another. So far I changed out the front calipers including pads, steering control valve and hoses, and replaced all four tires. This is when I found out the TA shims corroded to the frame. I am planning to replace the shocks (if they arrived on time) this week end and hopefully, I can take the vette out of the garrage for some enjoyment next week. Peace

That's normal... ...
I bought my '79 in May last year, wanted to fix the brakes and enjoy the car.... after I replaced almost everything I was 'on the road' in October....

Keep in mind that Corvettes have always been the victims of regular unionized production line quality coming from the Chevrolet division of GM. This ain't no foreign or exotic automobile where quality comes first.
Most of the truly original cars I've seen (NCRS Bowtie) have some glaring quality issues, leaning a little bit one way or another would be the least of them.
